Something we’re all guilty of is checking our cell phones a little too much. For most of us, me included, it has become a habit to scroll mindlessly through FaceBook, Instagram, or Twitter. But, I’ve decided to try to break that habit with the help of these 3 simple alternatives to picking up my phone.
- A couple weeks ago, our internet was out for almost two days. Somehow I survived! Lol I picked up a book I’ve been meaning to read for a couple months now called “The Cellar” and discovered how much I missed sitting down with a good read and coffee. Now, instead of reaching for my phone when I’m bored, I look for a book or magazine.
- You guys know how much I love my Happy Planner and recently I’ve kind of pushed it to the side. Not because I haven’t needed it ( trust me, I need it now more than ever), but because I just haven’t been inspired enough to create as much. Mindlessly scrolling through social media rather than creating something tends to leave me in a rut overtime. Just looking through what I have planned for the week gets my mind working and keeps me away from my phone.
- Of course, blogging or writing in general is a great way to stay away from social media, at least for a while. Relieving stress and connecting with your own thoughts will always be a more positive alternative than looking at your phone screen.
Of course, I’m not implying that cell phones are bad. I just don’t want to spend all my time looking at my technology and missing whats happening around me. I want to keep my mind fresh and inspired and I think writing, reading, and planning will do just that.
